These countries are unable to strive in the same path as the superior developed nations such as America and Europe .They do not have extensive resources in the basic aspects of life. These unindustrialized countries are unable to provide its citizen with proper education. The technological advancements are minimal and the availability of technology is sparse. The health care for the third world nations inhabitants is rarely accessible. The population is extremely immense compared to the nation financial and economic ability. Jobs are widely unavailable thus making the nation extremely poor. The resources that the country is able to access are usually only received by the citizen with connections or wealth. The furthermost underprivileged nation in the Americas is known to be Haiti. Haiti is often overlooked and erratically known by non-islanders by when considering the Caribbean islands.
The nation of Haïti is also known as Ayiti in the native tongue Creole meaning mountainous land. This nation is located on the island of Hispaniola neighboring the Dominican Republic. The island of Hispaniola was founded by Christopher Columbus in 1492. After island was discovered it became a Spanish territory. Later France was given a portion of the land to ensure peace amongst the countries. They named their share of the island Ayiti meaning mountainous land. So the people we call Haitians today were enslaved by the French. A once bonded man Toussaint Louverture became a zealous rebel and led the slaves to revolt against their oppressors. Haiti then took a turn for the worst and is still suffering from the corrupt government and dictatorships to come. The nation was detained under Duvalier dictatorship for several decades. Haiti was first lead by Francois Duvalier, who was elected president, and the declared himself president for life .Following Duvalier’s death his son Jean –Claude Duvalier at the age of 19 declared the same title , but exiled 15 years later.
