Dream
When I had my dream about finding treasure at the Egyptian pyramids, at the time I was oblivious to the idea of it. Not until a mysterious gypsy interpreted my dream and urged me to pursue to it. Then I met Melchizdek, who claims to be the king of Salem. He then told me the exact same thing the gypsy women said to me. I learned that having dreams is just the final step, we must take steps towards achieving our dreams to make it come true. This dream leads to pursue my destiny and provided me with a goal and realize my personal legend. Experiences with these people are in fact stepping stones leading a step closer to my treasure and my personal legend.
“I told you that your dream was a difficult one. It’s the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary; only wise men are able to understand them.”(15)
Omens
Omens offered me guidance on my journey and reassured me that the Soul of the world has endorsed my journey. As Melchizdek explains, omens make up part of the Universal Language of the world, and if I use this language I can always find the meaning in my surroundings. For example, when I saw a beetle on the sand by the pyramids, I chose to consider that it was an omen telling me that I should dig. In doing so, I continued to feel that the universe conspires to help me, and I seemingly found the meaning in this random event. The vision of the hawks and the approaching armies that I had in Al-Fayoum was also an omen that informed me of an attack on the oasis that could lead to the deaths of many. These omens helped me and guided me throughout my journey and towards my personal legend.
“Everything in life is an omen.”(70)
Caravan
When I was on my expedition to the treasure, I decided to join the group travelling with the desert caravan. That was the time where I bonded with the Englishman. He is a well educated and ambitious person. But he is rather anti-social. He prefers to read his large collection of books rather than interact with others or take interest in his surroundings but, I learned a valuable lesson from him. The Englishman was the first to introduce me to alchemy. The caravan trip was a lot like my journey. I learned a lot by simply watching the caravan travel and listening to the desert. Though the many detours along the trip, we still progressed forward.
“No matter how many detours and adjustments it made, the caravan moved toward the same compass point.”
Alchemy
Alchemy was first introduced to me by the Englishman. That was when I discovered that the secret of alchemy is written on a stone called the Emerald tablet. I also learned that the ultimate creation of alchemy is the Master work, which consists of a solid called the Philosopher's Stone that can turn any amounts of lead into gold, and a liquid called the Elixir of Life that can cure all illnesses. Then I really met the Alchemist who is supposedly 200 years old. The Alchemist taught me how to connect with the Soul of the World. I also learned to read and communicate with my surroundings and of course guiding me to my treasure.
WELL
Gathering water from the oasis was probably one of the most important things I have accumulated over my travels. The well in the oasis was where I met my first one true love Fatima. Fatima is more than just my love, she is my soulmate. For me, love at first sight was definitely real, as that is what I felt on that day. Fatima helped me understand a lot, but mostly, love’s importance and how love will wait for Personal legends to be fulfilled.
“...the most important part of the language that all the world spoke - the language that everyone on earth was capable of understanding in their heart. It was love.”(92)
“You must understand that never keep a man from pursuing his Personal legend. If he abandons that pursuit it’s because it wants true love...love that speaks the language of the world.”(120)
Urim and Thummim
“They’re called Urim and Thummim, and they can help you to read the omens” (40)
