TOPIC: The whole point of knowledge is to produce both meaning and purpose in our personal lives What is meaning? Meaning is the idea of something represented by a word. For meaning to impact ones personal life, it needs to be of something that will impact their life for the better or for worst. Purpose is an anticipated outcome that is intended or that guides your planned actions. Meaning and purpose both have a long lasting influence on ones life. Is knowledge the ONLY thing that produces meaning and purpose in ones life? Knowledge is the physiological result of perception, learning and reasoning, it is a finite word that is only the stuff that YOU know. The insertion of the word “whole”
They have made their own choice, and we have made ours. Do they judge us for our choices? Do they question whether or not religiously faithful people produce meaning and purpose because of our religious viewpoint? If meaning and purpose are in the lives of people who have no faith, then how can we state that “the WHOLE point of knowledge IS TO produce both meaning and purpose in our personal lives, if Atheism is going against a way of knowing? Meaning and purpose can derive from all places, not JUST knowledge. Knowledge is a word that describes the concepts learned and memorized by ones mind. Meaning and purpose can come from emotions, specifically love as well as ambition. Love’s sole purpose is to impact our lives, for better or for worst, if one feels loved or needed they believe that they have a purpose in life. It means that they mean something to someone, that someone appreciates them. In the Crucible, written by Arthur Miller, the protagonist John Proctor, has an affair on his wife with a young girl named Abigail. Abigail had been a regular innocent girl up until she came up to being the age of where she can “love.” You can deduce from the play that Abigail was in love with John Proctor, however, it was not the same from the other side. After being with Proctor, Abigail became more involved, she became more aware, it was as if EVERYTHING had been elevated to a higher level that she came to be the leader of this “group” of girls who had been “bewitched.”
