The use of online resources has been sweeping the nation and the world for many years now, with society caught up in the technological age of the 21st century more and more of life is being conducted through the computer and over the internet. So why not higher education? There are whole schools both undergraduate and graduate that are online and these schools by all accounts are worthwhile and accredited in their educational resources and teaching styles. While
Elizabeth City State University does offer many courses online through Blackboard education they could stand to offer many more.
The world is changing constantly, we live in a society where many of, if not most of our advances and daily life is done through a computer often making full use of the internet and its abundant resources so why shouldn’t education be the same way. There are many courses at
Elizabeth City State University that are seated courses that put quite frankly are unnecessarily so because the information they are trying to pass onto its students is information that can be absorbed autonomously by the students.
More and more professors are taking advantage of the resources of the internet. With the advent of ECHO360 where a professor can record a lecture for a course and upload it to
Blackboard for their students, in addition, the professors can create videos that show examples of what it is they are trying to teach. Take Kahn Academy for example the foundation of their entire philosophy is based on using the internet to teach, through online examples and practices, and detailed lectures.
