Dear Journal,
Today I suddenly heard a knock on my door and there he was, Montag, the man I once met in a park. First I thought it’s over, now my house, the books and you my dear diary will burn together with me until nothing is left, because out of all the people I could have spoke to I of course talked with the fireman or better book-burner Guy Montag. I was thinking to myself...if Montag did ever come by I could potentially be a big help and a mentor who would be by his side. I wouldn’t have ever thought he would have got out of burning books and then guess what? Montag the fireman was the one who wants me out of all people me to teach him the man who burns books for the government about books and the hidden meanings behind their pages. He wants my help to bring books back into the world because without them people’s lives would be lonely and empty. He even stole a book and saved it from the flames. It was the bible; it was a long time ago that I had a copy in my hands, it felt like a book and of course it smelled nice and what’s most important it has quality. And when I first held it in my hands I decided to help him and so I told him about the magic of books and the powerfulness of them. I need to be the support for him and guide him on his quest even if he does most of it alone. I have a very good feeling if we do this we can once and for all defeat Beatty. He took everything in like a sponge and I find he’s so energetic and full of determination to want to change things. He of course wants me to change society together with him, though I am the man who did nothing, who kept quiet and watched the tragedy happen, who never spoke up for the people who tried to stop the system and the inevitable change, who betrayed all the people loving freedom to keep my own safety.
