When the invention of the television had barely begun media was still the same. Gossip in the newspapers, stories blown out of proportion, and everyone still believed it. Then scientists experimented with the different tubes and soon the television was on its way to being fully invented. It was the beginning of television. Since then, every household has a television. Over the years, it has revolutionized people's lifestyles and the way everyone acts and thinks. Now, as it has become part of everyday life. Everybody has at least one television at home, mostly like more then that currently. It has changed people’s life because the television is seen as a mean of entertainment and education for the average person. The striking point is that television has become a usual product in the household, whereas in the past it was almost considered as an expensive device that not all the families could afford. A family was looked at wealthy if they had more than one television in their home. By watching television, people are easily able to escape from the routine of their everyday life, and to relax. That of course is where the topic of, if television is a bad influence is brought up. In other words, television is a mean of discovering, exploring, learning, dreaming, and thinking differently. It revolutionized mankind in so many ways. The invention of the television was complex. It does not have just one inventor. Many scientists contributed to the invention. Many companies had contributed to the investment of it also. NBC invested $50 million in the development of the electronic televison. To direct the effort, the company's president, David Sarnoff, hired the Russian-born scientist Vladimir Kosma Zworykin, who patented the first television color tube. This was revolutionary and was the beginning of a new invention that would change the way people see the world. The television was commercially available in the late 1920’s. Most common home’s did not have a television set, for they were very expensive. about 7,000 to 8,000 were manufactured in the United States before the war. Unfortunately the war had halted production and had not been resumed till August of 1945. The attack on Pearl Harbor affected television also according to Abramson. “The attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese on December 7, 1941, quickly put a halt to most television programming in the United States. Many American television stations reduced their schedules to about four hours a week or simply went off air” (Abramson). The invention had clearly set a role in history. For families now knew what was going on with the war in their own homes. This might have been look at like a good thing or a bad thing. Families might not want to see what goes on in war and with their other family member. The invention of the television had made way for so many revolutionary ideas. In the past fifty years or so, since television has become a common household product for the modern family, this one piece of technology has had incredible impact on society and basically revolutionized the way people see themselves and the world around them. The debate as to whether the impact is positive or negative has been taking place since the the television was part of everyone’s daily lives in the 1940’s. Television’s potential to connect, educate and inform the public is often gravitated toward negative comments and thoughts. The television has been thought of as an amazing invention. Today 99 percent of households own one television set. Even though today studies have shown that the average person watches on average ten to twenty hours of television during the week. Murrow once said, “This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise, it is nothing but wires and lights in a box.” (Murrow). The television provides viewers to see how the world has changed in art,
The Things I Carry I don’t typically carry many things with me on an everyday basis, but four things that I do always carry with me are my cell phone, my keys, pictures from my Poland and Israel Trip this summer, and love. Three of these four things are tangible things, but my love for life and everything in my world is intangible. I carry my cell phone with me often because it gives me a sense of security that if I am stuck in a situation where I am uncomfortable or in a dangerous situation…
Lanasha Haggins Professor Budd English-90 22 August 2013 The Things I carry In my early childhood, everything was great. I am the only child so I got everything I asked for and so much attention. I t was just me and my mom; it has always been just me and mom against the world. Then as I start getting older, around 11 or 12, things started to change. My mom started to get tired and weak. We just thought it was a simple cold, so we left it alone. Then her sickness started to become worse each…
course of my life I have held on to personal memories as well as objects that hold emotional value. The Things I Carry are more than one can guess by just looking at me. At times in life, in all our lives, it seems that we carry things we would never imagine would weigh so much on us. I carry more than just my school supplies when I walk into the school every morning. I carry many thoughts about my past, present, and my future. I carry my conscience every second of the day. I carry 17 years of memories…
Invisible Things I Carry The invisible things I carry are both good and bad. I carry with me joy and regret, pain and hope, and above all responsibility. At times I can forget why I’m joyful or sad but my responsibilities never go away. My life is filled with regret. Regret about saying something to someone that was mean or unkind and not being able to take it back or be forgiven. Mostly I’ve regret for the things I didn’t say and didn’t do, whether it was sticking up for someone or saying…
first, as do I allow many things in my life that restrict me from doing the work I need to do. When I have work to submit I get carried away by watching movies, and spending too much time with my friends thus, failing to complete my work and getting an F. Matthew V. wrote, “The main one being I am always thinking about my girlfriend. I base most of my life or even small decisions off what her response will be.” Although my ‘Martha’ isn’t about the person I am dating it is something I can relate to…

proven statistics I believe that viruses are indeed alive. Science proves that the bacteria in viruses have the same characteristics that a living organism does. Viruses are the most efficient entities on this planet to circulate and breed genetic material. They can multiply in mass numbers within minutes, and cause destruction throughout the world. Viruses carry genes, DNA, RNA and have protein material. These are some basic elements that living organisms like virus’s carry. In addition one…

a lucky piece of clothing. Either way the things you carry are not always something that can be seen. Sometimes, as in the story “The Things They Carry” by Tim O’Brien, sometimes the heaviest loads are your thoughts, feelings, and memories, for Lt. Jimmy Cross this became dangerously true. There are certain things people think about every day, a set of recent memories or little songs that keep you happy through the hard times and the good. These things are as natural as breathing, they will just…
