The Survival House
As the years have gone by, there have been many more cases of domestic abuse reported. These cases include many more instances with fatalities of women and children. I have been fortunate enough to be hired as a director of a domestic violence shelter, “The Survival House”. The Survival House is a non-profit 501(c) 3 charitable organization, has intentions to help as many victims recapture a safe, enjoyable life.
The organization provides a vast array of programs such as a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, and transitional housing 24-hour security staff. Various counseling groups for individual, family, teens, children, and grief counseling. The organization also offers case management, day care, legal services, parenting classes, job readiness, and will help with job placement. Agency offers home schooling classrooms for the children and an equal opportunity to continue adult education for the adults. The organization will continuously educate the neighborhoods and business on domestic violence through to use of seminars. For the clients that have moved on to seek their healthy lives we will always keep our doors open for those who need to receive support or if they are in need of counseling.
Our doors will be open to any and all females who are in a violent relationship. This includes being physical, emotional abuse, mental (verbal or nonverbal) abuse, and sexual abuse of the others which are not as prevalent. The program is focused on females of any race, color or heritage with their children, (children under the age of 18), are welcome to seek our assistance. There will be a 24-hour security staff at the facility for protection. So victims entering through the doors do not have to fear for their safety or the safety of their children.
The mission statement of the Survival House is: The Survival House will help all women and children in any form of abusive situations being; physical, mental, emotional, sexual, or any other forms of abuse not mentioned. We encourage coming to seek help with our organization or use our referral services.
The agency plans on making a difference by demonstrating the mission and value statement can make a difference for the victims of an abusive relation. We will turn no one away that actually wants to be out of their relationship of pain and suffering. Our intentions are to show the community, contributors, and the victims the organization is not to make a significant profit but have enough financial stability to keep the doors open. By staying solvent we can continuously help our old clients and welcome new clients seeking aid and support. The Survival House will always investigate new strategies to benefit the clients of our organization to make their transition an easier one. The Survival House financial records will be available for the public to view at their convenience.
The Survival House will keep all records and the clients confidential for the safety of our clients and staff. Employees who break this confidentiality will be terminated immediately and possible charges brought against them for violating the HIPPA agreement. All employees, including the managers and directors as well of The Survival House, will follow and review periodically the ethical standards which are supplied to us by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
The mission statement is intended to make the community aware of domestic violence being an existing problem, realize it is real, and a very series problems it communities. It will make the community conscious of who may be a victim of domestic violence; a neighbor, a friend, or even a relative. Instead of condoning the situation of domestic violence they should educate themselves on how to see the possible signs, who may be victims, and how to refer them to our agency.
