Sitting Duck or Instigator In the story a Rose for Emily by Willaim Faulkner, Rose is placed on a high petastool. She comes from a high class family. He father seems to be very controling over her and her realationships. It is mentioned in the story that her father does not seem to accept any of the guys that want to wed her. Rose seems to have no self control over herself or even for her own options and choices. Is Rose really a victim or is she really an instigator.I do not at all believe that Rose is a so called victim in this story. When we first read the story we short of feel sorry for Rose. She has just lost her father and has no one else. She is alone in the world and she is sad.Many thinks impact the reasons why Rose does the things she does. As an opressed female she doesn't know to to express her lonliness and her anger. Knowing that she is too good for all her possible candidates she grew sour. Her father has been dead for a couple of days but Rose does not want to hand over the body. Many would think that she does not want to hand the body over because she is alone and she feels helplessnes without her father. However, I think that Rose did not want to hand over her fathers body because this was the only way that she has some sense of control over him. Every one in the town felt sorry for her loss, and she was not the same after that. Everyone started to speculate about her once they saw that Homer and her had been seeing each other quite frenquently. He was
