Having these rights mean that we have the right to our life, the right to liberty, and the right to pursue happiness. In depth, the right to pursue happiness does not mean that happiness is promised, but it does mean that if you want, you can take up the opportunity to become happy. “I believe in the pursuit of happiness. Not the attainment, nor the final definition, but its pursuit. I believe in the journey, not the arrival.”(Doc B) In the quote its says that he believes in the journey, not the arrival of happiness. I chose this quote from the text because I agree with what he is saying. I believe that the journey to happiness is a much greater reward than happiness itself. Once you reach happiness there is really nothing else to do, nothing else to push and work for. The rewards you get on your way to become happy are just what makes the journey more worth it. Our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are part of the good side of the government, but when things get out of control in the government we the people have the right to alter or abolish it.
The right to
It allows the people to have a voice and not have a dictatorship. The consent of the governed means that the people have a say in some things that happen in the government. It's the government making their choices by what the people say/vote for. “Government exists to secure the rights of the people and must be based on the consent of the governed.”(Doc C) This quote means the the government is in place to keep the rights of the people and it also has to be based on what the people want. When we vote it is our way of putting in our say to the government based on the people we elect. The consent of the governed is just one of the ways that make our country run well.
