Abstract As technology expands into homes and businesses around the world, this paper looks at how schools will also benefit from its integration. With the “No Child Left Behind Act” as a guide to challenging new standards, schools need to look at the different types of technology available to them now and how it will benefit not only the students but also what this could mean for instructors and administrators too. In order to meet the ever changing needs of the economies technology, the responsibility to bring schools up to date falls upon the entire community and school districts alike.
The Positive Effects of Technology in Education
It’s 3:00pm. The kids run home from school, grab a snack and reluctantly sit down to their The chat option has mixed reviews. While some teachers feel that it is an unnecessary distraction, others feel that it is invaluable for several reasons. The lab management software is a controlled chat environment. Only the people physically in the lab can participate in the chat while instructors oversee the conversations and guide them through the lesson topics. It also offers teachers the ability to teach safety guidelines for appropriate chat on the internet when not in a school environment. Rewarding a student with chat is even an incentive to stay on task and pay attention. At the end of class they look forward to getting a few minutes to chat with friends when work has been completed. Many teachers are using the internet to give their lesson plans a modern “face lift.” One of the biggest benefits that the internet provides is up to date information. Teachers can create a webpage for their students to access at school or at home that provide links to the curriculum being studied. Students are able to track storms on weather sites, remotely control microscopes at laboratories thousands of miles away, research current events and follow them as they progress, and communicate with peers around the world to get different perspectives on certain topics or how other cultures live.
