A. OPERATING ENVIRONMENT 1. ECONOMIC INDICATORS Income, employment, balance of payments and investments are all the positive impacts of the tourism industry. The industry generates income through salary, wages, loan and interest. The amount spent by tourists though their currency in the accommodation, food and beverage and other tourism services and products,once they visited in our country, becomes our tourist receipts. Tourism brings new money into the economy. Tourist money is returned to the local economy as it is spent over and over again. As shown in the multiplier effect, the salary that an employee receives from the business can be used for Micros Fidelio and Micros Opera are examples of this that contribute to the success in operations, ensuring that there is a fast, reliable, accurate monitoring, controlling and handling of transactions and reports. Generating reports on accounts, making room reservations and handling transactions are some of the functions of the said systems.
4. POLITICAL WIND Unstable political influences such as protests and rally give negative impression to visitors and investors. Quirino grandstand hostage taking and Manila Peninsula mutiny affected businesses in tourism. Security and safety measures are heightened and a lot of scheduled bookings for flight and rooms were cancelled. 5. DEMOGRAPHIC MOVEMENTS The behaviour and motivation of tourists are affected and influenced by the demographic movements or changes. In terms of age, younger tourists are more adventurous who are more likely to adhere on active recreation and sports activities. Older people on the otherhand are more inclined to passive recreational activities like bird watching, bicycling and walking along the beach shoreline. Born as generation Y are those who are tech savvy and are more attuned into tourist destination or restaurants with wi-fi and would be able to use their gadgets.
