When I was little I had a bad habit of always biting my nail because I liked the feeling and the taste. People would always ask why is that nail different from the others and I tell them that I just keep biting on it all the time and parts of the nail would fall of and change shape. Well one day the worst thing happened to this nail that I would never forget. One Saturday afternoon my family and me decided to ride bikes at a long trial about 20 miles in Milford because we were bored and we had nothing to do. When we got to this trail I saw a man with his son on his shoulders, crying walking out because the little kid fell of his bike and broke his arm. I got very scared for a second because I had a feeling that something was going to happen to me. Well my brother and me decided to have a race down a rocky road to a river and first one there gets to buy the winner an ice cream, so we raced. My brother and me were very competitive against each other in everything especially video games, but this time I beat him very badly. When we got down to the river we saw this beautiful of the woods that really caught my eye, but we had to go. When me an my brother went back to see my parents, we saw a little girl on the floor and it was my sister who just fell off her bike because of the steep edge, I got even more scared and that bad feeling came back to me. My brother decided he wanted to race me again because he really wanted to beat me this time, so we raced again
unique. Throughout my few years of life I have grown very close to many friends and to me it is very neat to know that they understand my phobias and fetishes in a way that nobody else ever will. These people we call our friends, typically know the oddest things and the most important things about us. Having someone know those details makes them better understand why certain things are done the way they are. It is a great feeling, to know that there is another person who can relate to you and truly…
Fulton ENC 1102 23 January 2015 Journal One “And who am I? That’s a secret I’ll never tell...” In “A Rose for Emily” we get a lot of outrageous things form the story staring with the protagonists death and ending with another “passing” found. But the oddest thing in this story must be the “Gossip Girl” narrator, he/she speaks for the whole town, and untrustworthy. First off the storyteller in “A Rose for Emily” he/she likes to stalk every move that Emily makes. Whether she is staying home for too long…
Does Your Husband Have a Ridiculous Obsession? Sometimes I think my husband was conceived just to become a mechanic. Seriously, my husband has tools for cars, truck, diesels and tractors. He has several different tool boxes, with several different types of draws in them. I am pretty sure if they made tools to fix in-laws, he would own them too! Each tool has its specific spot. Each tool is cleaned and put away neatly after each use. If one tool breaks, it is quickly replaced with a new one…
from the sun, like the rest of the planets in the Solar System; Mars travels an elliptical orbit around the Sun. The perihelion for Mars is 207 million km and the average distance from Mars to the Sun is 228 million km. Mars actually has the second oddest orbits in the Solar System, right after Mercury. The wide ranging distances have an important impact on its seasons. When Mars is at perihelion, its southern hemisphere is tilted towards the Sun, and can heat up much more than when it’s northern hemisphere…
cruelty that Faulkner masters in words. Faulkner’s direct use of the word ‘savage’ occurs some 20 times in ‘Light in August’. The first half dozen times are concentrated in the initial 25 pages with repeated brutality in what at first glance seems the oddest of places, in the home of the couple Mrs. and Mr. Armstid, the man who first picks up Lena Grove off the side of the road on her way to Jefferson. This crucial meeting is the threshold to the events that play out in Light in August and foreboding…
Bridget Johnston Writing 101S Writing Assignment 1: Comparison and Contrast Essay March 22, 2015 Parenting: Amy Chua vs. Hanna Rosin Is there a right way to raise your child? There are really no set rules on how to raise your child, as we can see throughout the articles written by Amy Chua, a self-described “Chinese Tiger Mom” and Hanna Rosin, a “Western Mother,” in The Wall Street Journal in January 2011. These articles show that the two authors have completely different parenting styles…
Similar to other writers, Vanessa Gray Bartal started out in another career and turned to full time writing when her novels earned enough for her to quit her day job. Before she got into writing, she used to work as a 911 dispatcher – one of the oddest places you would expect to find a writer. It is important to note that Bartal has trained in communications, which probably explains her penchant for telling stories and her job in the dispatch officer. Vanessa…
to the person who got last place. This year’s punishment was quite and caused great pain to Paco. Paco was forced to create his own company but he had no restrictions. Paco created his company called Paco Corp. This corporation came up with the oddest, most stupid inventions anyone has ever seen in their life. One of these inventions was the tissue towel. The tissue towel was a towel that was made out of tissues and dried the person off after a shower or a quick dip in the pool, however, this…
live with her new husband and his parents. Jamaican Traditions Traditionally in Jamaica weddings involve the entire village where the couple lives. Everyone is invited to the wedding, and it’s common that uninvited guests show up as well. The oddest tradition for Jamaicans is that the bride walks through the streets; villagers line up and call out to the bride criticizing her appearance. If she gets a lot of negative comments she returns home and tries to make herself look more beautiful, before…
from J.B. Tweed’s third arm, Mane Pena’s feathers, and Chico Paco’s spirit, we are shown how environmental exploitation of “resources” like the Matacao for capital gain will lead to both environmental and personal demise. J.B. Tweed is the novels oddest character of them all by having a third arm, which Yamashita symbolizes as capitalism’s driving force behind environmental exploitation. His 3rd arm is first portrayed as his drive to always wanting more or his boredom with his small achievements…
