It all started when Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany, January 30th, 1933. At this same time, the Nazi party takes power in Germany. In March 22, of the same year, Nazis opened 4 concentration camps from central to northern Germany with one camp designated for women. Soon after the opening of the camps, the German Parliament passed the Enabling Act, giving Hitler Dictoral Powers. On April 11th, a decree issued by the Nazis defined what a non-Aryan was, "anyone descended from non-Aryan, especially Jewish, parents or grandparents. One parent or grandparent classifies the descendant as non-Aryan...especially if one parent or grandparent was of the Jewish faith.” Fifteen days later, Hermann Göring creates the Gestapo in the German state of Prussia. The Gestapo was the secret police for Germany who carried out many of the beatings of the Jews when captured. By May 10th, the burning of the books in Berlin and Germany takes place. The Nazis’ burned all books they believed were "ungerman". Approximately 24,000 books were burned. From July of that year to November, Nazi's had passed laws that prohibited Jews from doing things. Jews were not allowed to be Newspaper editors, owe land, be involved in art, and immigrants from Poland were no longer citizens of Germany. In the same year, the Nuremberg race law is passed. This law destitute German Jews of their right of citizenship. It gave them the status of "Subject". It also prohibited Jews to marry or have any sexual relations with Aryans or to hire and young Arayan women as a maid. By February 10, 1936 The German Gestapo was placed above the law. They were able to arrest, beat and execute anyone without following legal procedures. By August 1st 1936, the Berlin Olympics takes place.
