The Most Influential President
Out of the presidents available for this essay I have chosen James Monroe. I think James
Monroe was the most influential of the select presidents because, He was the first president to have been a U.S. senator, He served in the continental army, and the acquisition of florida.
The importance of him being the first president to have been a U.S. senator is that he has had experience in the government and knows how to handle situations better because he has acquired the knowledge of how the government works and operates. Another reason having government relations prior to presidency is that he already knows who will support him and who will go against him.
Knowing his allies will greatly help him choose his cabinet and his advisers and will create a work friendly environment which will greatly increase the governments efficiency levels.
By serving in the continental army he gained humility, respect, leadership skills, and survival skills. All of these skill sets together make him a great president because, humility taught him that everything is earned and not just given to you. So while he was in office he knows he has to earn the thing he wants. Respect taught him that he needed to respect his position as president and not abuse the power he has been given. Most of all by serving in the continental army he knows what america was fighting for so he will make all of his decisions abide to the constitution because he knows how hard it was to earn that right in the first place.
One of the biggest reasons I think James Monroe is the most influential president was the acquisition of florida. That was a great victory for america because spain was not on good terms with
