As stated in week 1 narrative journal I chose the book study of, The Man in the Principal’s Office, by Wolcott Harry, a detailed study of an elementary school principal. Wolcott, describes in depth what a principal actual does rather than providing an account of what his role should be. The subject of the study is “Ed Bell”, a middle age male elementary school principal assigned to a suburban school in a middle class, a predominately white American community. The book is an in-depth case study, an ethnography of the life, work, philosophy and aspirations of one of thousands of elementary school principals throughout the country.
