Who is Nick? In the novel The Great Gatsby, there is a relationship that brings Nick, Jordan, Gatsby, Daisy, Tom and Myrtle together. Nick is in the middle of it all, he sees the entire conflict with the relationships that surround him. Nick is not the type of person to judge the others as his dad once told him “whenever you feel like criticizing anyone”, “just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had”. Nick is the one character in the novel with the outside and inside look of the conflict. Nick, who says he “lived at West Egg…The one on the right was a colossal affair by any standard -it was a factual imitation of some Hotel de Ville Normandy, with a tower on one side.. It was Gatsby’s Mansion”. Gatsby is first introduced as a mysterious man who throws parties, that Gatsby never attends until he I personally invited by one of the servants of Gatsby. Gatsby has been throwing enormous parties thinking that one day they will attract Daisy to attend them. Nick later visits his cousin Daisy and witnesses conflict that goes on between her and her husband Tom. As soon as nick arrives at Daisy’s house she introduces him to her friend Jordan. While they converse, Tom and Daisy have a small arguments and Jordan tells Nick about Tom’s affair. Jordan tells Nick, “Tom’s got some woman in New York” Nick realizes how miserable Daisy’s marriage is. Nick notices the while Tom has a affair when he’s with Daisy, Gatsby is trying to contact Daisy again. Since Nick already knows about Tom’s affair, Tom doesn’t care about the fact that he is Daisy’s cousin and takes him to seen his other woman in New York. The other woman’s name is Myrtle. As soon as they arrive at the gas station and Wilson who was Myrtles husband walks away, Tom tells Myrtle, “I want to see you”, “Get on the next train.” Nick witnesses such a hypocrite the both are, but once again he doesn’t judge or says anything. Myrtle nodded and then quickly moved away from Tom as Wilson walked back. Nick later meets Gatsby; he refers to him as “Gatsby who represented everything for which I have a unaffected scorn”. As Nick gets to know Gatsby more he learns to appreciate him. He appreciated him for all he’s done with love for Daisy. Nick knows about Toms affair and later about Daisy and Gatsby who see each other every time more often. Nick is a loyal to Gatsby; he helps Gatsby see Daisy again. Nick witnesses how Gatsby id very proud of what he has come o accomplish, he show daisy his house and all the clothes
