The Evolution of the Scottish Parliament Building
The Scottish Parliament building is located in the capital, Edinburgh.
The Citation of this landmark began after the Referendum on the 11th September 1997 . The change in political position declared that Scotland would now have its own Parliament. According to Rt Hon Lord Fraser (2004) the Secretary of state, Donald Dewar had the authority at that time to choose the area of which the Parliament building was to be built. In 1999, 1st of June the responsibility was transferred to the Scottish Parliament Corporate Body. The Scottish Office commissioned feasibility studies of the specified areas and came to the conclusion that the Scottish Parliament Building would sit at the foot of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile in front of the spectacular Holyrood Park and Salisbury Crags. On July 6th 1998, Enric Miralles, a Spanish architect was selected to design the Scottish Parliament building.
