Citizens of France were perhaps never happier in their entire lives than when the guillotine fell upon the tyrant known as Robespierre’s head. Maxilimien Robespierre’s death marked the end of the terrible period in France known as the Reign of Terror. This terrible period in France was lead by Marat, Danton, and Robespierre. Jean de Marat, writer of the newspaper The Friend of The People, called for many of these deaths and was eventually silenced by Charlotte Corday in July 13 of 1793.
George Danton was the next to be killed by his friend Robespierre , due to Robespierre’s suspicion of Danton. Finally Robespierre was executed in July 28, 1794 due to a tactical mistake. Robespierre foolishly announced to the convention that he had a list of suspected traitors but did not announce it until tomorrow. However he did not get the chance to do so as his collogues arrested him and tried him for treason. He attempted to kill him self But he did not succeed in doing so , instead he fractured his jaw with the bullet that was meant to end his life. few people outside of academic circles know about or the arguments for or against. This debate was over whether the “War on Terror” should be prosecuted like a war or like a crime.
