Good afternoon, My name is Kaecy Gibaud
I believe that the education system in America should require every girl to participate in a child beauty pageant before she graduates high school. My target audience for this speech is the active members of the United States Department of Education.
Step 3: Skills
According to the September 25, 2013 article entitled “Should child beauty pageants be banned in the United States?” an article presented on the Issues and Controversies of beauty pageants among the country. Child beauty pageants have been around since the 19th century, featuring contestants aging from 2 to 18 years of age. Making this a requirement would help young women embrace themselves, their talents, and learn how to function in society after graduation. For example, the competition is usually composed of different categories namely talents, casual wear, long gown, sportswear, and a question and answer portion. These various categories teach numerous skills and qualities among these young women. The young women can become exquisite at public speaking and performing in front of large audiences, while at the same time boosting their confidence and communication skills. Young ladies also realize that while they are participating in beauty pageants, there stage fright disappears, they overcome their shyness, they learn how to be a leader, and they discover themselves, all while pushing themselves to their own standards.

Opposing viewpoints argue that a competition that focuses on the beauty and talents of such young girls should be restricted let alone be a requirement for everyone. According to Psychology Today, a magazine focusing on human behavior, when young ladies participate in activities that focus on physical appearance and capacities at such an early age it can influence their body image and self-worth. Such as, struggles with perfection, dieting, eating disorders, causing them to believe that
