This paper is a lot of things on the death penalty and why we should not use it. In some cases it’s considered good. It gets crime out of the streets and frees space in jails, but why kill people when we can use them in other places. These lives are not good, but we could help them discard killing or whatever they are accused of. reading this paper will give you more knowledge about the death penalty and why we should not have it.

A big part of the debate about the death penalty is Christianity. Christianity sees it as a form of revenge and as contrary to Christ's message of forgiveness, to enthusiastic support based primarily on old testament law. “Among the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Gospel of Luke and the Gospel of Matthew, the message to his followers that one should "Turn the other cheek" and his example in the story Pericope Adulterae, in which Jesus intervenes in the stoning of an adulteress, are generally

accepted as his condemnation of physical retaliation ( though most scholars agree that the latter passage was "certainly not part of the original text of St John's Gospel) More militant Christians consider Romans 13:3–4 to support the death penalty”(Wikipedia), but is it right to do such a thing?

Is there a reason for having the death penalty? In some cases “Death Penalty support becomes a minority opinion when the public is presented with a variety of alternative sentences” (http://www.nodeathpenalty.org). It costs far more to execute a person than to keep him or her in prison for life. “A 2011 study found that California has spent more than $4 billion on capital punishment since it was reinstated in 1978 and that death penalty trials are 20 times more expensive than trials seeking a sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole”. Instead of Death why not give them medical attention, therapy, life in jail any of those things. It saves lives and saves money. Fact: “California currently spends $184 million on the death penalty each year” (Death Penalty Focus). If we did any of the things listed above we would save tons of taxpayer money. In some cases it saves some lives, but by taking one to save many are we not doing the same by killing the many when saving many.

By not having the death penalty we would save lives save money less energy. By using 2,000 volts of energy each time thats energy being wasted and causing the plants to work even harder there for putting out bad gases that heart the earth and cause global warming. By not having the death penalty we save lives, the earth, and money its a win win (win?). In some cases not all, why have the risk of an innocent person getting death instead of having him in prison and when the time comes and more evidence is uncovered release them and find the real killer or accused. “In the past two years evidence

has come to light which indicates that four men may have been wrongfully EXECUTED in recent years for crimes they did not commit”(Death Penalty focus). This error rate is simply appalling, and completely unacceptable, when we are talking about life and death.

It is frequently argued that capital punishment leads to miscarriage of justice through the wrongful execution of innocent persons. Many people have been proclaimed innocent victims of the death penalty. “Some have claimed that as many as 39 executions have been carried out in the face of compelling
