In the time of the great Crime era, where inhuman acts around the captial city of paris, were a sense of enjoyment/fear to the readers and also a way of gaining profit for publishers. Criminals came from all parts of paris from rural to modern development areas, this did not only occur in paris at the time but was more of a world wide trend ..... Criminals recognized based on their intentions, for their wrong doings as they rot in a cell. Within this era of crime flourished into a culture of gender and class, which are crucial to this culture ... why? The role that gender plays is deceiving, in society its assumed that young male are the ones who involve themselves in criminal activities, while females are considered intellectual and are well mannered, also do not have the heart act such way. The way class works is pretty simple, the poor are considered as ones that are not able to gain the luxury to stand up against the rest of the classes, therefore they fulfill their need by taking from others of other classes but that is not necessarily the case, this will be further explained through out this essay. Culture of crime not only worsened the social class of individuals, but created segregation between men and women.
The structure of social class played a predominate factor in culture of crime, this topic was briefly touch upon in the in the beginning. There are three forms in the city of Paris consisted of are the lower, middle and upper classes, within the 19th century the lower class were mostly those who lived in rural areas where the only job they can get is physical skill such as hard labor work while middle class lived in the city with more white collar and mental skills and upper classes are like kings, nobles and those whom have a substantial amount of wealth. The lower class worked as servant for the upper class, even so ‘interactions between the servants and masters can hardly have been called warm.” They were just considered lowly people, that they paid to get the job done. During the transition period where the “increasing migration from the countryside and separation of classes in the city, workers appeared strange and alarming to the middle class” as the crime rate increased the news started to spread that the "Apaches", a word journalistic used in the fait drivers to describe the gang of the underworld. Even though the news were melodramatic, barring most of the criminal activities on the lower class, there have been incident where one can be born into well established family but still do sinful acts... In this era anyone can claim a life regardless of their social class. Used in the fait drivers to describe the gang of the underworld.
