Introduction`
Advertising is used in the world every day to try and sell the product to the person watching or reading the advertisement either by using pictures or just text. it is also used to let the public know about new products that are out or coming out soon. The importance of language is essential to every aspect and interaction in our everyday lives. We use language to inform the people around us of what we feel, what we desire, and question/understand the world around us. We communicate effectively with our words, gestures, and tone of voice in a multitude of situation. Would you talk to a small child with the same words you would in a business meeting. Being able to communicate with each other, form bonds, teamwork, and it’s what separates humans from other animal species. Communication drives our lives and better ourselves. The advertisements I’ve chosen to use in my extended study are car ads the advertisements I focused on were the ones that are in car magazines and how they try and persuade you to buy a particular model of car, the magazines that I used to complete this assignment were from the following magazines, “Motor Magazine” and “Speed”
Audience
The ads are directed at car enthusiasts and people that want the newest cars/new features. In the advertisements I chose they have some meaning for the background /colours used. The Skoda ad gives you a sense of adventure by its use of text “be prepared for something wild”. The background scene envokes a sense of adventure and wilderness, making the audience have the feeling that this model is what you need if you want to use your car for adventures.
The FPV ad shows that the people that should buy this car is someone that wants power and performance with the use of the electrical storm in the background. The Holden advertisement is aimed at the audience that wants a car that shows that the car with luxury, quality and performance.
Emotive language (Emotive language is the use of words that create or bring out emotions within the targeted audience)
Emotive language is used in these advertisements like in the Skoda ad It has “be prepared…” this is emotive language because it’s like a command Skoda`s saying get ready
