Temperature, an always changing thing that effects our everyday lives, we wake up every morning and feel the damp air on our face, because we live in an area near the coast so that is expected every morning in the summer. We then are able to enjoy a cool morning followed a hot afternoon. As a little kid growing up I would notice temperatures changing a lot more than I do now because I was a really active kid and I would always be outside in the summer and feel the scorching heat as well as feeling the blistering cold in the winter. As the year pass by it seems to me that temperatures are on the rise especially when every news organization is telling me that the polar cannot survive anymore in their environment since it is getting hotter. Trying to predict the weather is the same as winning the lottery there is a small chance that you will get it. And when watching the news at night a bunch of talk is how this winter is one of the warmest in history and that is a really crazy thing to think about since not too long ago it was snowing in South Texas which is a really hot place in this world. As for recent temperatures here, we are currently in February and I would not be surprised that the average temperature for February would be in the eighties. Future man made warming depends on both past and future emissions of heat trapping gases and changes in the amount of particle pollution. The amount of climate change expected for the next two to three decades is a combination of the warming already built into the climate system by the past history of human emissions of heat-trapping gases, and the expected ongoing increases in emissions of those gases. This is why the U.S. average temperature has increased almost two degrees.
In the article I read (Long-term warming likely to be significant despite recent slowdown) a new study shows earth’s climate will continue to warm during this century even despite a recent slowdown in the rate of global warming. The research done is new and more detailed than before and suggests that the earth is likely to experience roughly to experience twenty percent more warming. Global temperatures have increased at a rate of 0.22 Fahrenheit per decade since the early fifties. But as of late the temperature increase has only been 0.09 Fahrenheit. It goes on to say that atmospheric carbon dioxide is continuing to rise at a similar rate to previous decades as well as saying that carbon dioxide is the most significant greenhouse gas produced by humans. It also says that the Northern Hemisphere plays a stronger role than the Southern Hemisphere in transient climate change, the difference means previous studies have underestimated the cooling effect of aerosols. The reason that most of the climate change is because of the northern hemisphere is because most of the population of the world lives in this hemisphere and also since the Northern Hemisphere there is more industrialized zone this gives aerosols more of a chance to be released into the atmosphere as well as many other greenhouse gases, since most of earth landmasses are in the Northern hemisphere, this furthers the effects because land, snow, and ice adjust faster to atmospheric changes than oceans do. The article goes on and says that the research hinges on a new and more detailed calculation of the sensitivity of Earth's climate to the factors that cause it to change, such as greenhouse gas emissions. The study found Earth is likely to experience roughly twenty percent more warming than estimates that were largely based on surface temperature observations during the past hundred and fifty years. Shindell suggest that countries around the world need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to avoid damaging the ozone and climate even more.
