Teen magazines are a genre of magazines aimed specifically at Teenagers. They contain information on the latest fashions and cosmetics, juicy gossip, tips on what to wear and what not to wear, celebrity lifestyles, relationships, compatibility tests, interviews, posters, fitness tips and much more.

Teen Magazines on the Internet

As the Internet gained popularity, teen magazines began to appear on the Internet. The reason behind this was to reduce printing costs as well as make it convenient for consumers. The Internet is a practical way to deliver teen magazines to teenagers because teenagers are constantly at their computers or surfing the net instead of a purchasing items at a store or a newsstand. The Internet has also taken teen magazines to a whole new level. Not only is it accessible by anyone from anywhere in the world, however, it has made the magazine extremely interactive and lively. For example, instead of reading on a particular genre of music, one can click on a particular song to listen to a sample of it too. Such a thing is impossible to do in a printed magazine. Additionally, it encourages people to read and participate in surveys and puzzles since a response from an individual to and from the magazine is only a click away.
In the UK, sales in the teen magazine sector peaked in 1998. Teenagers had many more attractions competing for their cash and their attention, such as media delivered on the web and through mobile phones.
