Tedipod Customer Profile –
The ideal customer of the tedipod would be adults to buy for the consumer being little kids. Apple have designed the iphone for the adults the ipods for the teens and now the new up and coming product for apple the tedipod, designed to appeal to kids aged 6-10 both boys and girls. The tedipod is a potential new product concept that apple are working on; an ipod in the shape of a teddy bear.
They hope that because of the design it will attract the attention of little kids, with them seeing the apple product around the household, apple hope that seeing the adverts it will make them ask their parents for one as they see mummy and daddy with apple products and they’ll want one of their own.
The general customers will be working/ modern class families with young kids. The general likes of the customers will be that they are very fond of apple products themselves so that when they see the advert for the tedipod and their ids begin to ask for them they will have no trouble or question against getting them one as they know and trust apple as a brand and company.
The geographical location will have to come into consideration with this product as it will be the first of its kind so people may be sceptical at first. This is why I suggest that they first release the product in high demanding apple countries. This would be countries that already have high apple sales and a large customer and fan base.
In this assignment, I am going to describe and explain how Apple uses the marketing mix for one of its latest products, the Apple Tedipod.
Marketing Mix-
Marketing mix is commonly known as the 4Ps: Product, Price, Place and Promotion. These are controllable element and it importantly use when determined and adjusted until the right combination that serve the needs of the products consumers. Description of the product, the product that will be chosen is one of Apple new and upcoming products that is due to be released soon, the Apple Tedipod. This new Apple product will be available in two models, one with wifi and the other with a combination of wifi and 3G. The tedipod will come in one style as it is essentially an ipad but designed like a teddy bear for the kids, so they may be a variation of colour in the teddies, however this is unknown. But the price is likey to range from £269 to £529.
Target Market-
The target market that is chosen for the Apple Tedipod is male and female between the ages of 8-15, those that are currently leaving KS1-2 and coming into KS3. However it will also be targeted at parents and adults as at the end of the day they will be the one purchasing the products. Apple loyal customers will also be targeted.
The reason for this market group is because, people between the ages of 8-15 are now more likely to be wanting to use new technology that they’ve seen their parents use over the past few years as Apple have released new iPhone models.
Product Life Cycle-
When developing a product, Apple must consider factors such as, customer’s wants and needs, the physical appearance of the product, the quality and reliability of the product.
All products must go through a product life cycle which is an important concept in marketing. The product life cycle describes the stage that many products must go through. However, many products will not be able to reach to the final stages because of decrease in demand of product failure. The four stages of the product life cycle are; * Introduction – researching, developing and then launching the product * Growth – when sales are increasing at their fastest rate * Maturity – sales are near their highest, but the rate of growth is slowing down, e.g. new competitors in market or saturation * Decline – final stage of the cycle, when sales begin to fall.
Reason for chosen product-
The reason I have chosen the Apple Tedipod is because: the Apple tedipod will be one of the
