- Born in Virginia, live with his brother in Barbados for 4 months, only country ever visited outside America
- Trained as a surveyor, joined Virginia at age 20 in Hopes to become an british officer.
- Successful as an officer during french and Indian War but never became british officer because british felt their officer better than colonial officers.
-Washington was appointed commander and Chief
-Help defeat the french and became national hero

-Later moved to new site on the Potomac River that became known as Washington City D.C.
