Explain the legal responsibilities of the school relating to the duty of care and the welfare of the child. All adults working alongside children have a responsibility to keep them safe . The schools would have a senior teachers and they would designate them with specific responsibilities for child protection, the teacher should be clear about what children are on the children protection register and professionals involved with the family. Any member of staff in the school have a duty of care to all their pupils as they have daily contact with them and are able to observe and detect the signs of abuse, neglect, change in behaviour and failure to develop. If a staff member has any suspicion that a child is being or has been suffering any kind of harm they must express their concern to the designated member of staff. Any allegation should be taken seriously. The pupil would then be informed that the information cannot be kept in secret and that it needs passing on. Any staff member that receives any allegations of neglect or abuse must make a written report of the conversation including the date and the time of the reported incident, the names of people involved, and the nature of the abuse and if there is any injuries and that they have beDiscuss 5 important school and statutory frameworks that directly impact on the teaching assistants work with pupils en observed. All teaching assistants need to be aware of the school and statutory frameworks affecting the contents of the curriculum ,child protection, health and safety and any other aspects of the school days. The first framework that the teaching assistant should be aware of is the health, safety and hygiene. This is the priority in a school setting because of the importance of protecting any pupil in that setting. Every school have policies and procedures that outline the health and safety legislations and how to put them in to practise. The second framework that has direct impact on the teaching assistant is the equal opportunities. The teaching assistant has an important role making sure that every pupil has the equal access to learning opportunities. Teaching assistants are mostly hired to help individuals or groups of pupils support in order to help achieve equality of opportunity. The third framework is diversity. A teaching assistant should always show and demonstrate the values of every pupils race etc so that the pupil can build up the self esteem and identity , it will also promote the appreciation and the understanding of the different cultures and religions that other pupils have.The fourth framework is inclusion. The teaching assistant is employed and have certain responsibilities to work with an individual pupil, but some would be employed to have responsibilities to work with the whole class. The teaching assistant should aim to help the pupils gain confidence and self esteem as well as gaining independence, so that pupils can fulfill their potential. The final frame work is confidentiality.The teaching assistant must follow all the policies and procedures when it comes to this.

The the teaching assistant should speak to the teacher before a lesson to find out what equipment and materials is needed for that lesson, and make sure all these are in working order , clean and safe to use. When doing this the teaching assistant needs to make sure that the area is clean
