Invention Questions
What are the particular qualities of the situation, event, problem, group or place? People with tattoos are stereotyped in many ways. Many people will stereotype them as rebels, troublemakers, people with low values, immoral and so on. They also think they will regret it, that it is unsafe and they are just trying to show how “tough” they are. Women, especially, with tattoos are looked at as cheap, dumb and uneducated. None of those assumptions are correct. Tattoos are becoming more popular with all types of people around the world. People who get tattoos realize that it is permanent and its significance before hand. Tattoos are a form of art.
How do those qualities match up with the agreed-upon definition? Most people who believe tattoos are offensive or not accepted all the have same reasons why. You hear the same story and excuses over and over again, some people just say it differently. I think the qualities I listed above are all agreed-upon by those who don’t accept or like people with tattoos. They are judgmental and don’t even give the person a chance. Like the phrase “don't judge a book by its cover”, that is exactly what people are doing.
How do those qualities oppose or stretch with the agreed-upon definition? I think people tend to over react or stretch their opinions on people with tattoos. Some people are so focused on what happen back in the day and how people with tattoos were treated and looked at. I don't think the qualities listed oppose the agreed-upon definition. Like stated earlier, everyone has the same thoughts on tattoos. Nothing has changed, people either accept them or don't. As far as reasoning goes, it’s also the same. If you were to interview people on their thoughts about people with tattoos nine out of ten people would have the exact same thought.
4. What specific behaviors, attitudes, values, or policies seem to inform or hinge on the agreed-upon definition? Many people get tattoos for various reasons. Family, religion, beliefs, and self fulfillment are a few. Some people will mark their bodies for a blessing, new addition to the family, a death of a family member or to show a transition from childhood to adulthood.
What ideas do I have about how this definition needs to be changed or differently understood? When it comes to tattoos in the workplace I think people need to be more understanding. If
