Transient Analysis of a Resistor- Inductor (RL) Circuit

1. INTRODUCTION

Electrical circuit analysis is done in order to allow the designer to verify his design and to predict the response of the system under varying conditions of load and excitation.

Back EMF occurs when its polarity is opposite direction to its applied voltage.
b. What can be done to keep the current value to be the same as in the case of an ideal inductor?
An ideal inductor has inductance but no resistance or capacitance, and does not dissipate or radiate energy. Real inducers have resistance due to the resistance in the wire in the same core material’ and parasitic capacitance due to the electrical field between the turns of wire at slightly different potentials. To keep the current value the same, we/I can place a capacitor in series with the coil such that [Z]= the square root of Resistor 2 plus(XL-XC)^2.
XL= the inductive reactance of a coil.
XC= the capacitor’s reactance of capacitor.
c. How can the inducer in MultiSim be redesigned so that it more closely approximates the real inducer?
We can add a 330 ohm resistor to our circuit which will look more like our intended product.

4. Conclusion

Multiple resources have been used to clarify the intended subject of Transient Analysis of a Resistor and Inductor,(RL) Circuit. Our classroom environment provided the much needed attention to detail and the superb instruction by Professor Feng, and fellow on-site students.
Our calculations were both by written and computer generated using MultiSim and P-Spice Programing Platforms. I have intended to keep this both short and concise. I have included screen shots of my assigned pages within this document.
