COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will provide the student with sufficient analytical skills to interpret and act upon financial data and information that lead to sound financial decisions for business organizations. Topics include the time value of money, capital budgeting methods, financial statement analysis, breakeven analysis, short and long term financing methods, and topics in international financial management. Contemporary financial management techniques will be discussed throughout the course.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Analyze financial statements in making managerial decisions
2. Prepare financial statements for internal and external reporting
3. Develop and critically analyze key financial ratios to make operational and business decisions
4. Develop, interpret, manage and control financial budgets
5. Develop, interpret, and monitor financial and operational forecasts
6. Value corporate bonds, preferred stocks, and common stocks
7. Analyze and interpret the effects of Federal and State taxation in managerial decision-making

EVALUATIVE CRITERIA:
The final grade will be based on examinations, case studies, and class participation per the following:
Exams: 70%
Case studies/Projects/Quizzes: 20%
Class participation: 10%
