Swim Team
Kelli Deighan All the swimmers of Lake Catholic get riled up when the fall sports season ends, and when it starts to get cold out, they know it’s time to jump back into the pool for another season!
The Lake Catholic swim team is starting off this season with a fresh outlook as they have acquired a new coach, Jack Joyce. Although he is young, his work ethic is down to a science.
Coach Joyce pushes the swimmers to do their best and really cares about helping them improve.
The whole team can really relate to him because he is younger.
The swim team consists of 32 with a few freshmen in the mix. Katie Sanford, a senior, said, “It’s great to see so many new faces in the crowd.” The team also has many returning lettermen who are gearing up for a terrific season. One might recall that the girls team was undefeated last year and that the relay team made it to states. When asked if this year’s team could follow that up, Jen Riess, ‘15, said, “Everyone wants another successful season. The major difference between this year and last year is this year we know what we are capable of.”
Winning is obviously something that the swimmers are striving for, but they also said they want to continue dropping time on their events and ultimately be able to make it as far as possible. The whole atmosphere of a swim meet is crazy and loud and it is so exciting to see the teammates cheer each other on. That’s one thing they take pride in; being supportive of one
