Sustainable energies

It is known that energy is absolutely necessary in humans’ lives and some kind of energies source such as coal and gas will be able to exhausted one day. Therefore, sustainable energy, which can be naturally replenished on a human timescale, is being exploiting by people nowadays. Exploiting sustainable energy has both advantages and disadvantages in supplying demand. This essay will analyse these advantages and disadvantages.
First of all, sustainable energies are environmental friendly. Using this kind of energy such as wind, water and waves will not discharge polluted air or waste. One of the most significant emissions when fossil fuels are burned is carbon dioxide, a gas that traps heat in the earth’s atmosphere. Over the last 150 years, burning fossil fuels has resulted in more than a 25 percent increase in the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Scientists predict that as carbon dioxide levels continue to rise this century, so global warming will increase (Union of Concerned Scientists 2013). Unlike the power from fossil fuels, wind power is a vast and inexhaustible resource. It already supplies 20 percent of the electricity or more for several areas in Europe: Demark currently leads all nations with 20 percent wind penetration, and two states in Germany with a combined population of 4 million get 40 percent of their electricity from wind (Earth Policy institute 2010).
Secondly, sustainable and renewable energy can be used effectively. In some areas of the word, there is not sufficient fossil and fuels, it is unreasonable for the countries to import the resources from other countries because of the high price. Therefore, it is wise for them to use local sustainable resources to product energy to satisfy citizens requirement. For instance, just 20 days of sunshine contains more energy than the world’s entire supply of coal, oil, and natural gas. A range of technologies is used to convert the sun’s energy into electricity, including solar collectors and photovoltaic panels.
Admittedly, the exploration may cause some ecological problems. For example, if people want to use the wind power, people must provide huge space to offshore wind facilities for the reason that the turbines are bigger than land-based ones.( Fact Sheet on renewable energies 2012). People can see the wind facilities in many open lands. This occupying may have

Sustainable Pioneer Building in China: Centre for Sustainable Energy Technologies Sustainability has become an important aspect of building construction at present, especially for the countries with high economic growth while environmentally degraded and polluted, such as China. Therefore, the Chinese government vigorously developed sustainable buildings. It is reported that the Ministry of Science and Technology of China planned an assessment system for green building in 2003. As the University…

Topic 2: International Consensus on Access to Renewable Energy Introduction A modern economy and a modern way of living depend on a sustained, dependable supply of energy. There are the obvious examples, of course: computers and all sorts of other devices require energy in the form of electricity, and many vehicles use energy in the form of fossil fuels. But in other areas, the dependence is more oblique. Many medications require refrigeration or else they become inactive, schools need light…
Rural Energy Needs and Sustainable Development 1. Introduction To the rural people, energy is an essential element both for the fulfillment of basic needs-especially cooking and heating, but also hygiene, health, etc. –and for sustainable rural development, including energy for agriculture, food processing and education. However, today, there are still nearly 2 billion people who have no access to adequate energy services (Goldemberg, 2000, 368). How to address the energy needs of the…
Sustainable Development in India and China Background Since the beginning of the industrial age, the ability to connect and use different forms of energy has changed the living standards for billions of people, allowing them to take advantage of comfort and mobility in human history, making them to perform task efficiently and easily. However, humanity now finds itself confronting the challenge of saving this earth from unsustainable exploitation of natural resources. Even though these forms…
Green Technology, sustainability for future energy. We live in a world that’s becoming more urbanized. There are more cars, factories, housing, etc. that requires energy. The current ways we generate energy can eventually hurt our environment. Natural resources for energy surround us, but we need the technology to harvest it. Green technology is that answer. This paper will discuss what it…

Maria E. Jimenez FIE-British Life and Cultures Dr. Fosdal 18 February 2014 Sustainability Lecture: Saving the World for Future Generations According to Henry Hicks, Futerra Creative Director, sustainable development is development which meets the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (2014). It means that today, people need to be aware of the social, economic, and environmental impact of their decisions because these decisions…
