Summary
At the “March on Washington rev. Martin Luther King gave a speech called “I Have A Dream...” to many citizens. Rev. Martin Luther King believed that this day was going to be “... the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.” In Martin Luther Kings speech he refers to the Emancipation Proclamation which was to free the slaves. Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was supposed to free the slaves Martin Luther King still believed the were not completely free. The Constitution and the Declaration of Independence are considered to be the rules of American society. Even though they were both rules of America, Martin Luther King believed that the people of color still did not get the same rules. Martin Luther King is stating that the people have no time to relax and that action is needed to be taken to gain racial justice. King thinks the nation will fail if segregation is not taken care of. King also thinks that the revolts should keep happening until equality for all is met. King was trying to persuade the people to not break any laws in order to gain freedom. Martin Luther King wanted no fights but to demonstrate peacefully how both whites and colored could get along and work with each other. In the speech, King states what should be equal between all of mankind. Whether is be hotels or motels or even where people can live.
