On the 24TH April 2012 an article was written by Andrew Gregory in the Daily Mirror about shocking findings in a care home in North London. Secret filming took place after Ms Worroll started to notice bruises on her mother in various places, after just six weeks of moving into Ash Court. What was revealed on the tape was shocking, It showed Jonathan Aquino repeatedly striking her mum Marie aged 81. Marie who suffers from acute arthritis and Alzheimer's is a vulnerable elderly lady, Ms Worroll lashed out at care watchdog for snubbing her over the incident. CQC did not interview Ms Worroll or look at her evidence before issuing its report. CQC investigated the home, ruling residents were safe, Inspectors failed to interview Ms Worroll and after 10 months the CQC still had not interviewed her. The scandal forced the CQC to examine its findings again in June after rating Ash Court excellent. Judy Downey, head of relatives and residents association charity supported Mrs Worroll and called for an urgent review of the CQC. CQC claimed it didn't interview Ms Worroll because it did not want to risk interference with a police probe. Ms Downey does not want the same mistakes to be repeated and wants the government to accept the care watchdog is not fit. Also appalled by the CQC in their intelligence gathering that they did not think it necessary to consult the key person, Not only was her mum struck by people supposedly caring for her but was also manhandled and treated without dignity and respect. The CQC produced a report in October which said “Ash Court ensures that people who use the service are protected from abuse or the risk of abuse.” Two inspectors spent six hours in Ash Court talking to people, observing care and looking at records, CQC inspectors chose not to speak to Jane Worroll as they did not want to risk any interference with ongoing police investigation. A spokesman for the CQC said It has written to the family of Marie Worrell on two occasions to say it did not find evidence of repeated incidents of poor care or abuse.
