Depression and emotional crises is very recognizable and it’s treatable. About 800,000 people in the world commit suicide and 30,000 of those people is in the United States. Suicide is a big deal in our society, yet we tend to never talk about it. Depression is the one of the main causes for suicide and usually that depression is untreated, undiagnosed, or ineffectively treated. Males make up 79 percent of all suicides, while women are more prone to having suicidal thought. Males in our society are trained to keep their emotional thoughts to themselves so they try to hide depression or other problems rather than seeking help. Women are way better at communicating their problems than men are. So are a lot more likely to be diagnosed with depression because they are simply more likely to admit their problems to people and get help. More than half of that commit suicide used a firearm. Although guns are not the most common method by which people attempt suicide, they are the most lethal. About 85 percent of suicide attempts with a firearm end in death. However, guns are an irreversible solution to what is often a passing crisis. Suicidal individuals who take pills or inhale car exhaust or use razors have time to reconsider their actions or get help. With a firearm, once the trigger is pulled, there’s no turning back. Impulsivity could possibly have a connection with people using firearms to kill themselves. If a gun is in the house or even right next to their bed, its way faster and effective.
