“Smoking cigarettes is harmful to your health” this is a warning sentence which shown on pack of cigarettes. If it is harmful then why are they still manufacturing this poisonous thing? Oh! I know it’s because of the money isn’t it? Sad but it’s the reality, money makes the world go around. Everyday there are thousands or more, people suffering because of cigarette smoking. But yet there are still people want to try it or started to smoke even though they already know the effects of it in their lives. It is not only harmful for those who smoke but it is also injurious too those inhales it. If you start smoking it is very hard to quit for it is highly addictive. If you don’t wish to grieve in the future and if you don’t wish to incriminate other people in your surroundings then don’t start it. Be wise and choose a healthy living.

They said that smoking is relaxing and can relieve your stress. That’s what smokers felt when they smoke but these things are just for temporary and can’t solve your problems. It can cause you problem. Problems like lung cancer that would make you suffer not just for temporary, but for a lifetime. Tobacco is the leading cause of preventable illness and death in Canada. It causes many different cancers as well as chronic lung diseases, such as emphysema and bronchitis, and heart disease. According to Health Canada each year, there are more than 230,000 deaths in Canada. Research has shown that, in 2002, about 17% of deaths were due to smoking (20% in males and 12% in females). Each day, 100 Canadians die of a smoking-related illness. The main causes of smoking-related deaths are cancers, cardiovascular diseases and respiratory diseases. Smoking hurts more than just you. Health Canada mentioned that exposure to second-hand smoke alone caused 831 deaths among Canadian adults in 2002, and the main causes of death were heart disease and lung cancer. Second-hand smoke is the combination of smoke coming directly from a burning tobacco product and the smoke exhaled by a smoker. Many of the chemicals in tobacco smoke are present in second-hand smoke. Cotinine, a chemical produced when nicotine degrades in the body, can be detected in body fluids and is a good indicator of exposure. A recent Canadian study found that 14% of non-smokers aged 6 to 79 had measurable amounts of cotinine in their urine - indicating that they had been exposed to second-hand smoke in the previous few days. Also of importance in the report is information on just how dangerous secondhand smoke can be. Exposure to secondhand smoke causes bronchitis, pneumonia, and ear infections in children. When nonsmokers breathe secondhand smoke, platelets in their blood get sticky and may form clots, just as they do in people who smoke. Even spending time in a smoky room could trigger a heart attack. Don't allow anyone to smoke anywhere in or near your home, and don't allow anyone to smoke in your car (even with the window down).

It is very disappointing to see people smoking specially people in my age, teenagers. Because once they start smoking in their young age, the effects of the cigarettes are more dangerous. They would not feel it in the beginning but as they grow older cigarettes are slowly destroying their lives. Smoking among teenagers are built from peer pressures, the number one reason of smoking among them and influenced by their friends. Research shown that Teens who had at least two friends who smoked were more than six times as likely to become intermittent smokers than those whose friends didn't smoke. These teens were also 10 times more likely
