Atticus Finch
Moral injustice was the type of Atticus was exposed to, for defending Tom Robinson. Atticus was a white man trying to defend a black man which in Maycomb is a dreadful task. He is continuously made fun of because he was defending a nigger. He is also called a “nigger- lover” by a character named Francis, “Just what I said. Grandma says it’s bad enough he lets you all run wild, but now he’s turned out a nigger-lover we’ll never be able to walk the streets of Maycomb agin.” (Lee 83) His family was tormented but Atticus still did not give up on winning the case. When the trial was over, he was greatly appreciated by the black community of Maycomb. Atticus Finch ignored all the rude comments he got and handled the situation just like Arthur Radley, whom was also a target of injustice.Cecil Jacobs, Francis Finch , and Mrs.Dubose all criticized Atticus for helping a black man. For instance, [Mrs.Dubose to Jem and Scout] “ [ Your gather’s] no better the n****** and trash he works for”(Lee117)Not only do those three people judge him, but Bob Ewell dose so as well. Bob has spit in Atticus’ face, angered for him taking Tom’s side instead of Bob’s. Atticus would do the right thing even if it involved receiving injustices, but Arthur (Boo) Radley was also who experienced an injustice.
Tom Robinson Tom Robinson experienced the most common injustice, racial injustice, when he was being accused of rape .He was accused of a crime he did not commit.
