My scenario centres on STI’s and getting tested.
My scenario is about a girl that goes to a party and has unprotected sex with a random guy at a party. She is on the pill, so there’s no chance of getting pregnant. Her friend urges her to get tested for an STI, just in case, but she refuses, saying she doesn’t have any symptoms, so she doesn’t need to.
Little does she know, that STI’s such as Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Genital herpes, Syphilis, HPV and (initially) HIV/AIDS almost always have no symptoms in the first month! So she could very easily have a STI.
These are the 6 most common STI’s in women, and they all don’t generally have symptoms..
These STI’s can have very serious effects such as infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, neurological damage, stroke, cardio-vascular damage, deafness, blindness or death. Many STI’s can also be carried on to a child through birth.
So while you may not have symptoms yet, you are still at risk! Ensure you get tested as soon as possible! There is no harm in getting tested, even if you do not believe you have an STI.
Get tested immediately if you have recently had unprotected sex, Better safe than sorry!
