Steve Irwin Even though many people believed that he was crazy and a fool and a danger to people around him, Steve went after his life ambitions and became what he set out to be. Steve created many organizations to help wildlife and donated many funds to support wildlife centers around Australia. His greatest know achievement besides his show is the Australian Zoo. He may have been daring and did dangerous things; he did them to educate the world on the animals he encountered. To most people Steve Irwin was just a reckless attention seeker. But to most people he inspired them to go for their dreams. Stephen Robert Irwin was born in February 1962. He grew up loving all wildlife, since his parents had a small reptile store when he was little. In 1991 Steve took over his parent’s wildlife park and met Terri Rains, A tourist to the zoo. Steve and Terri were later married, instead of a honeymoon the couple when on a filming expedition with a friend. It was such a hit that the Crocodile show was born. His parents retired in 1991, Steve worked hard to maintain and expand the zoo. He later renamed it the Queensland Zoo. Irwin’s love for animals has been shown time and time again from his zoo and his show, but sadly his time had come to an end. On September 4th, 2006 Irwin was filming a documentary on dangerous sea animals. He got too close to a stingray, startled it and the animal pierced its barb right through Steve’s heart, he died at the young age of 44 (par 4, Mail on line). The author in an article said, “Animals were in his blood” (par 13, The Independent), Animals were in Irwin’s blood he lived for them. His two children will make sure his legacy will never die; they have been raised into loving wildlife just as Steve was when he was a child. Steve Irwin accomplished many things in his life. He spent his life promoting environmentalism with his great enthusiastic personality. He captivated all ages with his knowledge of animals and safety and of course his accent. He entertained millions around the world with his television show “The Crocodile Hunter”. He never did hunt any animals, he “hunted them down” to get up close with the animal teach us about it and then he would release it back where he found it. Steve also created many other things, the article Look to the Stars explains, “Irwin founded the Steve Irwin Conservation Foundation, which was later renamed Wildlife Warriors Worldwide” (par2, Look to the Stars). He also created many other foundations, he started one in his mother’s name to help fund a wildlife rehabilitation center. Besides teaching the world of his knowledge Steve also took the time to teach his own family about wildlife. His wife Terri worked at the zoo with him
