It’s Time to Change America
On January 24, 2012 President Obama held his third State of the Union Address in Washington D.C. The audiences were the Speaker, Vice President, members of Congress, distinguished guests, and all the fellow Americans. In President Obama’s speech, he stated some of the important key points that could bring changes in upcoming years. He mainly focused in three key points such as, economic and jobs, education, and Iraq and Afghanistan troops. President Obama speech was very convincing and persuasive to all American people because he promises to bring changes in America. During this time, the nation was in recession and it was very tough to maintain both economy and jobs. Before Obama took the office, people nearly lost 4 million jobs. In addition, people lost another 4 million jobs before the policies were in full effect. The unemployment rates were about 10 percent. But in last 22 months, the businesses have created more than 3 million jobs, most jobs created since 2005. Obama said, “No, we will not go back to an economy weakened by outsourcing, bad debt, and phony financial profits. Tonight, I want to speak about how we move forward, and lay out a blueprint for an economy that’s built to last----an economy built on American manufacturing, American energy, skills for American workers, and a renewal of American values.” As Obama promised the nation, he supports the American GMC auto industries, which is of the top industry in the world. GMC created more and more jobs for the people. Also trade agreement between South Korea, Colombia, and Panama, guarantees to bring change in United States. Today the unemployment rates is about 7.8 percent went down nearly 3 percent and it will keep going down as more and more people find the jobs.
Obama also states that, “We can either settle for a country where a shrinking number of people do really well while a growing number of Americans barely get by, or we can restore an economy where everyone gets a fair shot, and everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules." It means that, it’s time to stop rewarding businesses that shipped overseas, and start rewarding companies that create jobs right here in America. It also means, that American who work hard and follow the rules deserves government jobs than those who don’t. Obama wants to support the businesses that help improve the US economies.
President Obama also talks about to bring back troops from Iraq and Afghanistan because for the first time in two decades, Osama bin Laden is not a threat to this country and most of al Qaeda’s top lieutenants have been defeated. Also, for the first time in nine years, there are no Americans fighting in Iraq. Obama said, “Together, we offered a final, proud salute to the colors under which more than a million of our fellow citizens fought -- and several thousand gave their lives.” Now, it’s time to bring back and welcome those heroes who made the United States safer and more respected all around the world.
