Types of evidence

To successfully achieve a unit the learner must gather evidence which shows that they have met the required standard in the assessment criteria. Evidence can take a variety of different forms including the examples below. Centres should refer to the assessment strategy for information about which of the following are permissible.

E8- Manage Physical Resources

Learning Outcome 1- Understand the importance of sustainability when using physical resources.

1.1 Explain the importance of using sustainable resources.
The word sustainability can mean “maintain", "support", or "endure”. Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
It is far more important to prevent than to minimise. If we reuse instead of recycling then this helps the environment with all chemicals going into the atmosphere. If we recycle then we can also renew energy onto the national grid from solar panels or chippings and if we dispose of everything in landfill this is the worst thing we can do, as it will fill the land with pockets of gas which will over time give problems. We are preventing the planet from becoming hotter with greenhouse gases and not being a world for people to live on.
Resources are important to our organisation as we can save the environment whilst we save money and keep people in jobs.
If we do a little we can do a lot. If we use recycled paper, saving trees, if we use recycled toner cartridges we save using plastics and we can recycle to use again.

1.2 Explain the potential impact of resource use on the environment.
The potential impact of resources used on the environment from a business is by a formal process, which helps to predict the environmental consequences whether they are positive or negative from your plan of action that is put into place. You use your policies, procedures and projects that you are working on to do this.
You will need to make decisions - as decision makers, review decisions and propose measures to adjust impacts on the environment, to acceptable levels or to cancel projects.
