1) Does he feel the love his parents give him?

I think he can feel the love his parents with him, by the way they spread their fingers and touch each other's fingers. Christopher recognizes this form of movement which leads him to know that his parents are saying they love him. But I think that he can't understand other peoples emotions, he can understand the emotions of sad and happy but he can't understand the other emotions. Christopher explains that he has difficulty determining their emotions. But he can understand perfectly the emotions of the dogs.

“I like dogs. You always know what a dog is thinking. It has four moods. Happy, sad, cross and concentrating. Also, dogs are faithful and they do not tell lies because they cannot talk.”

I think it would be ok but in certain cases it wouldn't be as the fact that he might get the thought that one is laughing at him. But it would be ok if you laugh and tell him that what he said was funny and explain them why and say to him that they're not laughing at him.
