The Death Penalty Should Be Abolished

When you think of all the people who have died because of all the bad choices they have made in life what comes to your mind? Your probably thinking of weeping and grieving, and you think to yourself why? That is why i’m speaking to you and saying that the death penalty should be abolished for the benefit of everyone.

Why keep people on death row for ten years straight if you’re going to kill them? Killing people is just a waste of peoples lives, the people on death row and all their family and friends. This way of punishing people just causes controversy and heartache for everyone who knows them and even people who don’t so why don’t you let people serve time and spare their lives?

Keeping people on death row affects mental health. Not only the person on death row but their family and friends. Even the mental health of the people who kill them will be affected because they will have to carry the burden of knowing they have killed someone for the rest of their life. Dr Vonica Kale quoted that “Mental health problems can kill and is more likely to kill if you are carrying a burden” Don’t you think that so many people will be affected because someone has died for something that they should have been forgiven for?

Take the controversial story of Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan. They are both on death row because they smuggled drugs into Indonesia and will be executed soon. It has now been 9 years since they have been sentenced to
