Performance Analysis

In the movie Network made in 1976 written by Paddy Chayefsky. Staring Peter Flinch who played Howard Beale a news caster who's loosing his mind over all the backlash he's getting over the shows bad ratings. Peter Flinch's performance as Howard Beale was intense and full of character. He came into the news station and got on the live air and said to the world on national television that life is bullshit, and repeated it multiple times over and over again each time getting louder and more energy. Then he said he was going to blow his head off on live television, meaning watch this channel because it's going to have some intense stuff happen on it. The ratings went through the roof and the media was all over it. Rupert's stand-up routine is well received. He closes by confessing to the audience that he kidnapped Jerry Langford in order to break into show business. The studio audience laughs, thinking that it is a part of his act. Rupert responds by saying, " Tomorrow you'll know I wasn't kidding and you'll all think I'm crazy. Beale's outburst causes the newscast's ratings to spike, and much to Schumacher's dismay, the upper echelons of UBS decide to exploit Beale's antics rather than pull him off the air. In one impassioned diatribe, Beale galvanizes the nation, persuading his viewers to shout out of their windows "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
