In order for the perfect change we need to find solutions towards our way of dealing with solid waste. A simple and obvious way to start is to stop throwing out junk out in the public streets. In an article I found, “Over 51 billion pieces of litter land on U.S. roadways each year most of it, 46.6 billion pieces, is less than four inches, according to KAB’s National Visible Litter Survey and Litter Cost Study” ( http://www.litteringiswrongtoo.org/faq). If you calculate the mass of trash its accumulates to 6,729 pieces of trash per mile. That is a lot of trash in the streets. Reducing trash thrown out makes our city less dense with trash and it gives better looking streets. Another type of way to fix the amount of solid waste is to recycle, reuse and reduce. The recycling process embraces the time for the collecting, separating and processing. In a book In a book I found by Shammas, Nazih K., Wang, Lawrence K., Hung, Yung-Tse ,” Four primary collection programs widely used in many countries are curbside collection, drop-off centers, buy-back centers, and deposit/refund programs”,(The handbook of environment and waste management pg.594). When you recycle you can get money back for being a smart. When you reuse you can cut back on the amount pollution you are putting out. On a government page I found online,”Instead of discarding unwanted appliances, tools, or clothes, try selling or donating them. Not only will you be reducing waste, you'll be helping others.
