What is the difference between sex and gender?
Our sex is purely the biological differences between men and women. What chromosomes you are born with, your body hair, your hormones and your internal and external sexual anatomy. Gender however is the socially constructed characteristics that we define as either masculine or feminine. ‘Gender norms’ are the created specific entitlements and responsibilities to men and women which affect all aspects of our everyday social life.
