Socio-demographic characteristics of respondents: In each upazila two FGDs were orgnaised in two different communities. A total of 35 respondents from two communities participated in the FGDs of each upazilla. Among the participants of Mathbaria there were 12 school teachers, 5 religious leaders, 7 community leaders, 5 housewives and 6 farmers. While among the respondents of Shyamnagar there were 8 school teachers, 9 community leaders, 4 religious leaders, 5 housewives, 5 farmers and 4 NGO workers. Both the areas FGD was almost homogenous and the participants were responding the queries spontaneously. Some of the participants were very enthusiastic. All the respondents were above 30 years of age and majority (85%) of them were Muslim.
Findings of FGD: The participants of the four FGDs were asked the questions in 4 components of the VRA tools. The responses, comment, and the score of the participants was recorded accordingly.
The community at Mathbaria mentioned a number of climate change impacts like migration, loss of work due to salinity, less rainfall, ponds not having water, less productivity of rice, saline water intrusion and changing foods that require high water input for cooking. Impacts of climate change affect the drinking water consumption and hygiene habits of the community. They
Other health problem as mentioned by them was early delivery, menstrual problems, hair falling due to use of saline water, less intake of water during pregnancy and childhood intellectual development. The indirect health impacts included lack of diversity of food crops and reduced food preparation and intake, cooking all meals for each day in one session, where previously they prepared fresh food for every
