We have decided to choose Purdy’s Chocolatiers as the primary competitor of Gunongs. Purdy’s is a Canadian chocolate maker that is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada. The first store was opened by its founder Richard Purdy in 1907 and has since been expanding to what are now 64 stores across British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario. Purdy’s has been voted by its employees as one of Canada’s 50 Best Employees in 2002, 2004, 2008, 2009, and 2014.
Purdys aims to stay ahead of their competitors by providing a wide selection of chocolates and good prices. Additionally their use of social media to engage their target market has also immensely helped in keeping the company ahead of the competition. A great example of customer engagement from the company happens during Christmas season. The company actively engages customers to weigh in via social media on the different flavours of chocolates that the customers would like to see produced from Purdy’s Kitchens. Purdy’s has created their presence in all popular social media websites such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The following is the statistics for their social media pages:
