Over the course of this semester, I’ve learned a lot about how effective social media is in the workplace, and how important strategy is in social media. Strategy is essential because you are able to effectively market to those who have a greater chance of buying your product. For example, being on the Facebook team, I learned how to target a specific demographic who would have the greatest probability of buying your product, instead of aimlessly marketing, possibly wasting time and resources.
Social media can be very useful in sharing the gospel, because it is able to reach vast amounts of people everyday. When I was on my mission, I had the opportunity to baptize a lady who had found the gospel through a Facebook post. She said that the post had touched her, and when she saw the name of our church on the post, she asked her friend who posted it to share information about the church. People can be touched by the Spirit through simple messages shared through social media.
I don’t use personally use social media very much, however I do have accounts with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. My preferred platforms are Facebook and Instagram, because for me it’s the easiest to connect with people that I know; especially people that I don’t have the chance to see, like people from my mission.
