DIFFERENTIATING BETWEEN FILE SYSTEMS
FAT32 vs NTFS

In order for Windows OS to operate as it was designed, it needs to have a file system. There are two types of files systems that have been created for use with Windows OS. The File Allocation Table (FAT) came first with Windows 95 and has three versions, the latest being FAT 32. New Technology File System (NTFS) is a file system that was introduced with Windows 2000 and has become the main standard for every operating system since then. NTFS at the root operates like FAT but has many better attributes in general. First NTFS has a larger partition size storage capability than FAT’s 32 GB, which is just not enough to use these days. NTFS has much better performance capabilities as well since FAT 32 has size limitations that lead to wasted disk space which can be a pain. One major advantage for NTFS is its ability for users to rewind back to a previous stage after a hard drive crash since NTFS logs its status before changes are made. Also with NTFS, you get an individual recycle bin for each user and all files are encrypted.

NTFS is the files system that was intended primarily for its use in large USB flash drives. This is because of the many advantages of NTFS over FAT. NTFS is able to take the files on a flash drive and view them the same way you view the files on the hard drive. Also since NTFS is encrypted, the files are more secure for you as they are shared between
